Following Along: The Gender Gap in Returns to Geographic Moving

Mylene Feuillade is a talented researcher in urban economics, with whom I had the luck of studying (and sitting next to) during my PhD. She now is a data scientist at the Inspection Générale des Finances. The paper which I have illustrated below is her “Job Market Paper”, which for those of you not doing a PhD in Economics, can largely be translated to the main and most important chapter of her PhD.

The project itself itself analyses how moving choices differ across genders, and the impact on household income and job outcomes. Mylène uses french administrative data allowing her to trace moves across France, job outcomes, and income. This data is incredibly detailed, as is her work—if you have a question on the research she’s probably already addressed it.
